Season Concerts 2022/23

Season Concerts

Before us is a Season with huge doses of realism and adversity, as well as the spirit of triumph, optimism, energy, and passion.

Information

The course of History has always been an immense source of inspiration for artistic creation. Also for music, which very often becomes a mirror of the soul, of adversity, of the most brutal tragedy, but also of its spirit of achievement. These are the foundations on which the new Concert Season has been built. We speak of the story of overcoming adversity, with music, as a sublime art, having given us excellent examples throughout its history. Some of these pieces will accompany us through the 2022/2023 Season. We speak of the sometimes hidden rawness that Shostakovich expresses through his notes, the ghosts of Tchaikovsky, Bruckner’s greatest symphony, and Carl Orff's most famous work still heard round the world, Carmina Burana, with the Orfeón Donostiarra on its 125th anniversary.

We are also picking back up with projects shelved during the pandemic, such as the première of Carpenter's Ghost Songs, a joint commission with British orchestras. We will close out the project entitled Elkano: Mundubira musika bidelagun after having completed a trip around the world through the imagination of our composers. We will début a piece by Ramon Lazkano at the same time as the Philharmonie de Paris. We will welcome new artists and present a compendium of little known and rarely performed works.

Before us is a Season with huge doses of realism and adversity, as well as the spirit of triumph, optimism, energy, and passion. Come discover what our orchestra has prepared, living and discovering the experience of music as a mirror to our reality.
