A national orchestra
Former conductors
The chief conductor is the key piece in the smooth running of a symphony orchestra.
It is the conductor who, with their artistic criteria and talents for guidance, will forge the personality, the sound of this tremendous musical instrument which is the orchestra.
Since Enrique Jordá put his international career on hold to tackle the challenge of creating the Basque National Orchestra, these have been, from the most recent until Jordá himself, the chief conductors who have steered this ship until placing it within the parameters of quality it enjoys today.
