If the previous concert offers us the opportunity to listen to an unusual Rachmaninoff, the sixth season ticket programme brings us the Russian's paradigmatic creation: the Piano Concerto No. 2, one of the most popular (and difficult) works in the piano repertoire. It will be performed by a superb tandem of Italian artists: Federico Colli, winner of the Salzburg and Leeds competitions, and acclaimed as one of the most imaginative pianists of his generation; and Riccardo Frizza, a renowned specialist in Italian opera who will show here his skill with the symphonic repertoire. Part of the programme will also be dedicated to the transalpine country, as Richard Strauss' symphonic poem Aus Italien takes us on a journey through the ruins of Rome, the beaches of Sorrento and the streets of Naples, to the sound of such famous melodies as Funiculì, Funiculà.
