Great voices for the greatest choral symphony work: Verdi’s Requiem. Summer passion.
The Orchestra closes the season with a resounding choral symphony concert. The Orchestra will join one of its most faithful partners, the Orfeón Donostiarra choir, to perform a score of which they are specialists: the Requiem completed by Giuseppe Verdi in 1874 in homage to Alessandro Manzoni and Gioachino Rossini, deceased shortly beforehand. Hans von Bülow described the Requiem as "Verdi’s new opera, but in ecclesiastical garb”, and he wasn’t wrong since its theatrical strength is unique among the numerous existing musical examples of masses for the dead.
Robert Treviño, who has forged some of the greatest successes in his career conducting opera, has selected for this occasion four well-known singers of Verdi: the soprano Amanda Pabyan, the mezzo-soprano Susanne Resmark, the tenor Aquiles Machado and the bass Rafal Siwek
