The Salzburg-born Georg Mark, who also studied philosophy and psychology, is one of the most interesting conductors on the Austrian circuit. He will lead the orchestra in the premiere of the second project of the Mundubira musika bidelagun project, a creation by the Bilbao composer Mikel Urquiza which addresses the American stage of Elcano’s voyage around the globe.
This continent also inspired Antonin Dvorak’s most famous score, Symphony No. 9, From the New World, which brings together the findings of his investigation of black and indigenous American music and mixes them with the bohemian melodies characteristic of his style. These are also present in the vibrant third movement of his Violin concerto. Augustin Hadelich, winner of a Grammy and chosen by Musical America as “Instrumentalist of the year 2018”, will be the extraordinary soloist who will give life to the brilliant pages of this concerto.
