The Basque National Orchestra is back rehearsing again after enjoying a short but well-deserved holiday. On August 10th the Orchestra will perform a concert as part of the 70th edition of the "Quincena Musical" San Sebastián Musical Fortnight.
The event, which kicks off the BNO's 2009-2010 season, will be conducted by Maestro Andrés, the Orchestra's Principal Conductor. The concert will take place at the Kursaal Auditorium in San Sebastián on August 10th at 8:00 pm, and the programme will feature a single piece: Franz Joseph Haydn's oratorio "The Creation". The Orchestra will be joined by soprano Genia Kühmeier, tenor Johannes Chum, bass James Johnson and the Andra Mari Choir, directed by José Manuel Tife.
On August 26th the Musical Fortnight will feature the Orchestra in a second concert at the Kursaal Auditorium. On this occasion the BNO will perform a concerto version of Francisco Escudero's opera "Gernika".
