Dance returns to the Basque National Orchestra's programme with a new collaborative project with Malandain Ballet Biarritz. In recent years the two have joined forces to produce memorable productions such as Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. This time the audience is presented with another historical female character, Marie Antoinette, with choreography by Thierry Malandain, who uses four pieces by Joseph Haydn: his early Symphonies Nos. 6-8, known as “Le Matin”, “Le Midi” and “Le Soir”, and his Symphony No. 73, “La Chasse”. The show will be performed with orchestra conductor Mélanie Levy-Thiébaut as master of ceremonies. Levy-Thiébaut is an expert in choreographic and cinematographic repertoire.
This programme will be first performed in Gare du Midi, Biarritz, on November 16 and 17. After that, it will also be featured as part of the Orchestra's 18/19 Season in February (Croissant, Plié and Relevé), and it will also be interpreted in Versailles on March 29-31.
