Information

Robert Treviño opted for Russian music to close the season and has invited pianist Alexei Volodin to accompany him on this adventure. Volodin, an accomplished specialist in the music of Rachmaninoff, will perform Piano Concerto No. 3, considered one of the most technically challenging piano concertos in the classical repertoire. The idea of destiny comes next in Symphony No. 5 by Tchaikovsky, who once wrote that composing the piece was so hard that he had to "squeeze it from my dulled brain". In his interior, Tchaikovsky coupled the great symphonic form with a hidden literary programme, which, together with Slavic folklore and the language of ballet, resulted in one of the most original and memorable symphonies of the latter part of the 19th century.
