Information

The Elkano: Mundubira musika bidelagun project is docking at a new port, the second to last of its musical voyage around the globe with the world première of Teresa Catalán’s La victoria vacía, 2017 winner of the Spanish National Music Award. It will be taken over by another Spanish National Music Award winner, violoncellist Asier Polo, who will present the piece that has stayed with him since he performed it at his orchestral début at the age of 21. The piece is Elgar’s Concerto for Violoncello, perhaps the most famous concerto among the Briton's repertoire, which forges its immense emotional intensity from the contrast between impassioned lyricism and almost mystic intimism. Robert Trevino will conclude the soiree with one of the most important French symphonies of the second half of the 20th century, Henri Dutilleux's Symphony No.1, which shot him to international fame and started to mould his singular universe of sound with an unparalleled timbral refinement.
