Information

Baldur Brönnimann, the former conductor of the Casa da Música de Porto and currently of the Real Filharmonia de Galicia, is a conductor well known for his skill with contemporary music, which will feature prominently in this programme with a French aroma. It will open with Mugarri, the striking piece created in 2010 by the San Sebastian-born, Paris resident Ramon Lazkano, and which has been one of the most performed Basque symphonic works in Europe during the last decade. In a very different style, and in a commission shared with the Real Filharmonia de Galicia, Itziar Viloria's Oihartzun gorriak will have its world première on this evening that will also pay homage to one of the fathers of impressionism, Claude Debussy, with two works of great evocative power: the Nocturnes, which will be sung by the female voices of Vocalia Taldea, and La Mer, in which Debussy captured the play of the waves, the reflections of the sky on the water and the dialogue of the wind.
