Robert Treviño will once again take up the baton which he will share with two great friends of the Basque National Orchestra: the violinist Pinchas Zukerman and the cellist Amanda Forsyth. In San Sebastian, Bilbao and Pamplona, Zukerman will tackle one of the most famous violin concertos of Romanticism, Max Bruch's Concerto No.1. Vitoria will see Forsyth join the violinist to recover a rarely performed piece by Camille Saint-Saëns, the duo for violin and cello with orchestral accompaniment, The Muse and the Poet. The second period of all the concerts will see Treviño will follow the score of one of his favourite composers, Anton Bruckner, who composed his immense Symphony No.5 during a challenging period of his life; one beset by financial and health issues. But with this symphony, and despite his proverbial insecurity, Bruckner claimed to have shaped "a masterpiece of counterpoint".
