An American in Paris by Gershwin starts a tour of the sounds of America, which blends the European symphonic influence with jazz and dance rhythms. Pacho Flores, who trained in Venezuela’s youth orchestra scheme and has won competitions such as the Maurice André, has established himself as one of today’s leading trumpet virtuosos, blending classical music with his Latin American roots in his performances. The pieces by Daniel Freiberg, Astor Piazzolla and Pacho Flores himself will extend this blend into tango, milonga and other characteristic rhythms, with the trumpet accompanied by an orchestra rich in percussion and vibrant colours.. There will also be a contribution from a Basque composer who emigrated to the Americas: Pedro Sanjuán and his Black Liturgy. Manuel Hernández Silva, from Caracas, will be the master of ceremonies for this kaleidoscope of Latin American music.
