Following the Orchestra's successful collaboration in March 2017, the legendary violinist Pinchas Zukerman is back in the Basque Country to present one of his lesser-known talents: conducting. First, he will conduct one of the most famous concerts of all time, Ludwig van Beethoven's 1806 Concerto for Violin. The pastoral third movement is considered one the German composer's most glorious arrangements. Next, this time without his violin, Zukerman will delve into the Bohemian folk melodies of Dvořák's glowing Symphony No. 8. A contemporary of Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony — which we will hear at the end of the season — Dvořák's was a foray into joy in the midst of a somewhat tormented symphonic panorama.
