Information
The world's best trumpetist, Sweden’s Håkan Hardenberger, plays and conducts Haydn and Lutoslawski, who expresses his Polish soul.
The famous Swedish trumpetist Håkan Hardenberger, in his double facet as performer and conductor, will act as the master of ceremonies in this programme focussing its attention on the great classics. On the one hand Joseph Haydn, father of the symphony and of the string quartet, teacher of Beethoven and musical star in the Europe of his day. Together with Symphony no. 22, “The Philosopher”, Hardenberger will approach his popular Concerto for trumpet and the prelude to the oratorio "The Creation”.
The second part will take us to another classic, this time from the modern world. Witold Lutoslawski was one of the few composers capable of masterfully combining the rising tensions between folklore, the avant garde and historical tradition. His Concerto for Orchestra, completed in 1954, is one of the capital creations of the 20th century, as well as being a brilliant orchestral showpiece.
