Miramon Matinées 2019/20

Miramon Matinées

The Basque National Orchestra's chamber music cycle.

Information

The Basque National Orchestra continues to give a prominent place in its programming to chamber music through its season of Miramón Matinées, which now celebrates its 28th year. This year, numerous ensembles made up of the musicians from the Orchestra will offer smaller-scale and intimate concerts that require them to be on top form, while giving greater prominence and visibility to the different members of the Orchestra.

Worthy of note in the programming for this season is that in addition to the usual string formations there will be other less common ensembles, such as Kolpeka, entirely composed of percussionists, or Cuivres en Pays Basque, a large ensemble of twenty musicians with a clear majority of brass wind instruments. There will be special guests such as the Basque pianist Josu Okiñena, who will offer a selection of Franz Liszt’s least remembered compositions. We will also welcome the visits of several sopranos, outstanding among which is Miren Urbieta-Vega, who previously participated as a soloist in the 17/18 season of the Basque National Orchestra.
