Miramon Matinées 2021/22

Miramon Matinées

30 seasons is not something you achieve every day, and as a result the agenda of the Basque National Orchestra will be full of novelties to celebrate this important milestone.

Information

One of the main attractions will be the participation of soloists who will feature in concerts from the orchestra’s Season Concerts. This is the case of violinist Dmitri Makhtin and cellist Alexey Stadler who, along with pianist Julia Siciliano, will offer during the first two Matinees an extension of the Brahms Festival with which the Basque National Orchestra will open its 21/22 season of concerts. In this same category, another distinguished guest will be the great pianist Varvara. Other proposals that deserve a special mention are the recovery of the open general Rehearsal of Ravel's works where the complete orchestra was going to offer last season, and the successful production of the Living Room Music Music Classroom that the orchestra’s percussion section will transfer, with some adaptations, to the Miramón Matinees. And of course, several formations of musicians from the orchestra will continue to delight us with works from the classical repertoire, as well as other more hidden treasures from chamber music.

Season concerts 2021/22

Season concerts

Optimism, discovery and inspiring music set the tone for this concert season by the Basque National Orchestra.

Information

The recovery of artists and works scheduled a year ago, the discovery of a lot of good music and the reaffirmation of our important role in society are the main features of the new concert Season. In order to fulfil our purpose, our auditoriums will host renowned figures such as such Pinchas Steinberg, Pinchas Zukerman, Pietari Inkinen, Mei-Ann Chen, Varvara, Yulianna Avdeeva and Dmitri Makhtin.

We will be welcoming back Ainhoa Arteta, Asier Polo, the Orfeón Donostiarra Choir and the Orfeón Pamplonés Choir. And we will continue Elkano's journey with debut pieces by Joël Mérah, and Teresa Catalán. A Brahms Festival to start the Season, and a magnum opus by Mahler to talk about our collective resurrection. This is part of our map of artists, pieces and good intentions that we have drawn to also recover you, our true raison d'être. We thank you for your trust, your return to the concert halls and your complicity in our recovery and revival.
